Prayer Book Pages

I continue to add to my illuminated prayer book, and use all of these pages when I pray. I hope that they help you in your prayers.

Illuminated Morning Prayer

When Covid began in 2020, I started painting again. Stuck at home, I wanted to illuminate the rite of Morning Prayer, since both I and my church would be using it for awhile. At first I thought that it would be only a few months of online church. Instead, an entire year past before any of us participated in a eucharist. The Rite of Morning Prayer became very important to me at that time. The images in this series are all pages in the little book I created for the rite.

Illuminated Lectionary

I had a practice, for awhile, of making paintings to illuminate the Sunday lectionary every week. I don’t do this much anymore, but I liked some of the paintings, so I share them here. Many of them are in private collections now, and it’s always a joy to walk into a friend’s house and see one of my paintings on the wall.

Practicing the Presence of God

A few years ago, I created a series of images to accompany Brother Lawrence’s Practicing the Presence of God. I created a chapbook that contains a transliteration of the whole text of Practicing the Presence of God, and twenty-eight images. If you would like to download a copy, please click the image below. I’ve also created prayer cards with the quotes and images that I like the best. They’re meant for use during times of private devotion. In the following days I’ll be putting up separate posts featuring these cards, with some commentary.
